The main reunion event spans three days. It will feature an open bar hospitality room in the hotel where Transporters can gather, reminisce and plan their own excursions and adventures. There are also three optional planned events I don't think you'll want to miss.
Chicago River Architectural Tour and Navy Pier-On day one, Thurs. 3 Sep, there will be an outing to do the Chicago River Architectural Tour from a boat on the Chicago River. The river runs through the middle of downtown Chicago. This is a guided tour explaining the history of the re-building of Chicago after the Great Fire of 1873. You'll cruise down the river beneath the magnificent skyscrapers as your tour guide explains the architecture and history of each building. It's a great way to become familiar with Chicago. After the tour you will walk along Navy Pier to visit restaurants, bars and entertainment venues. Free transportation will be provided to and from this event by luxury bus. The current bus will hold 50. Cost of this event is $35 per person.
Note: This event starts at 1300, 3 Sep. Anyone wishing to attend should plan to arrive early that day or the day prior on Sep 2.
Museum of Science and Industry Visit and Luncheon- On day two, Fri. 4 Sep, there will be another outing to the Museum of Science and Industry. This is a magnificent museum full of extremely interesting exhibits and if you've never seen it, it is a must. Included in this tour is a buffet luncheon and a guided tour through the most conic exhibit in the museum, the captured German submarine U-505. During lunch a speaker will tell us about the capture of the U-505 and what it meant to the war effort and after lunch we will have guided tours especially for our group through the exhibit and the submarine itself. Free transportation is provided for this event and there is a limit of 100 people for the buffet lunch so sign up early. Cost of this event is $55.
MCATA Banquet- On day three, Sat. 5 Sep, we will hold our annual MCATA Banquet in the hotel ballroom. This is a semi-formal event with a sit down dinner and guest speaker. We will have a cash bar and a DJ to play your favorite music and a color guard will be on hand to make this a memorable Marine Corps event.
There are three selections of food including stuffed chicken breast, beef short ribs and grilled lime salmon. All meals come with salad, desert and traditional sides. There is also a vegetarian option of grilled portobello mushroom with peppers and marinara sauce. The cost of this event is $69 per person.
